Symptoms

OEM 13.4 / 13.5

Default OHS parameter values may not be able to handle heavy load in Large EM environments where OMS is monitoring thousands of targets.

OHS may observe hangs at times or crashes due to load and in some of the cases, ohs*.log reports following errors:

[2021-07-01T11:28:50.0445-05:00] [OHS] [ERROR:32] [AH00287] [mpm_worker] [host_id: <hostname>] [host_addr: <IPAddress>] [pid: 17413] [tid: 140152555566464] [user: oracle] [VirtualHost: main] AH00287: server is within MinSpareThreads of MaxRequestWorkers, consider raising the MaxRequestWorkers setting
[2021-07-01T11:28:51.0458-05:00] [OHS] [ERROR:32] [AH00286] [mpm_worker] [host_id: <hostname>] [host_addr: <IPAddress>] [pid: 17413] [tid: 140152555566464] [user: oracle] [VirtualHost: main] AH00286: server reached MaxRequestWorkers setting, consider raising the MaxRequestWorkers setting

Goal of this document is to provide tuning parameters for OHS to handle heavy load.
