What does 'Configuration' mean in the "Average Active Sessions" performance graph in Enterprise Manager? (Doc ID 472559.1)

Goal

Enterprise Manager provides summary performance data for database targets. One of these measures is the Average Active Sessions graph accessed as follows:

Navigate: Targets > Databases > [select target database link] > [expand Performance drop down menu] > Performance Home


The Average Active Sessions graph shows a number of color-coded categories which represent different session types and one of these is Configuration.
This note describes the content of the Configuration category.
