Symptoms

Note: This issue is documented for a specific environment;however, it should apply to other similar environments (i.e. - other vendor load balancer or HTTPs configuration without a load balancer.

In this specific environment, Discoverer 11g  is deployed behind an F5  BigIP hardware load-balance which is configured use HTTPS/SSL for incoming URL's and SSL is terminated and HTTP sent back to the middle-tier.

The symptom / errors are that some of the Discoverer URL's for images and other static content  are being returned with the HTTP protocol instead of HTTPs protocol. This causes broken links for  external users that cannot access HTTP URLs.

The requirement is that all links returned by Discoverer 11g should return with the front-end load balancer host and as an HTTPs URL.

Important to note: SSL throughout is supported for Discoverer. SSL termination may work in some cases, but if it fails, SSL must be configured between OHS and WLS. See <Note 1316142.1> (How To Configure mod_wl_ohs with Oracle HTTP Server and Oracle WebLogic Server)

Changes

Configured and F5 Load Balancer for HTTPs and SSL termination
