Oracle Database Setup which has two database servers setup as RAC ,
On SCAN LISTENER technology .

Symptoms
When attempting to update the data-source for the existing planning application for RAC database the following error occurs:
java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
Changes
Database server setup was changed to Oracle 11g R2 RAC which has multiple servers setup and configured to use ON SCAN LISTENER technology. The earlier Database server was simple single server setup and all existing data-sources were configured using this database server.
