OBIEE 11g: Date Write Back does not Work as the Date Format Changes to YYYY-DD-MM (Doc ID 1622711.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 30, 2023

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.7.1 and later
Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.7.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

You have a write back report that has two date type columns. You display the date in MM/DD/YYYY format.

When you update both date columns the report is able to update successfully. But when you update only one date column, OBIEE changes the date format to YYYY-MM-DD when trying to write the data, so the write back process is not completed, and OBIEE errors out.

Here is the error message from the NQServer.log file:

[OracleBIServerComponent] [ERROR:1] [] [] [ecid: <ECID>,0:1:4] [tid: 1f2c] [nQSError: 17011] SQL statement execution failed. [[
[nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 1843, message: ORA-01843: not a valid month
 at OCI call OCIStmtExecute:
   <Writeback Template Here>

[nQSError: 43093] An error occurred while processing the EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement.
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS.
