Symptoms

OBIEE 11.1.1.9.5 on Exalytics using SybaseIQ 12.7 as data source.

One of the OBIEE presentation columns is defined in the Oracle BI Repository (RPD) using a String function TRIM() on the logical column.

TRIM Function is defined on the logical columns as below:

1. Open Oracle BI RPD Using Admin Tool.

2. Locate the logical Table and logical column under the Business Model and Mapping layer.

3. Go To Logical Column 'Properties' --> Tab 'Column Source' --> Section 'Column Source Type' --> Select 'Logical Table Source' under 'Derived from Physical mappings' --> Click Edit
--> Tab 'Column Mapping' --> Select the Logical column and click on 'Edit Expression' displayed as calculator icon.

4. TRIM is defined as shown below:



When running OBIEE analysis including above described column report fails with below error:

Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P

State:HY000.Code:10058[NQODBC][SQL_STATE:HY000][nQSError:10058] A general error has occurred.[nQSError:43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError:16001] ODBC error state:37000 code: 102 message"[DataDirect][ODBC SybaseIQ Wire Protocol driver][Sybase Adaptive Server IQ) ASA Error-131 Syntax error 'near' on line 8. 9nQSError:16001] Cannot obtain number of columns for the query result(HY000)
