Exalytics: OBIEE 11.1.1.9.5 Write Back fails with Error: "[nQSError: 13017] User or application role has not been granted the Direct Database Access privilege to access the database" (Doc ID 2166863.1)

Symptoms

Write back feature stopped working after migrating from OBIEE 11.1.1.6.4 to OBIEE 11.1.1.9.5 environment. Verified that write back feature is setup as per documentation - Process for Configuring Write Back


When trying to do an insert or update below error is encountered:


'An error occurred while writing to the server. Please check to make sure you have entered appropriate values. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.'

Error messages noted in Oracle BI Server log (nqserver.log) :

 NOTE: While this issue occurred on an Exalytics server, the problem is not unique to Exalytics and may happen on any OBIEE server environment.
