Symptoms
Business rule validation in Planning 11.1.2.4.005 on an Exalytics server fails when the business rule contains a @WITHATTR (ATTRIBUTE FUNCTION). For example, validation fails when the code contains an IF clause with contents like:
When running the same code in Calc Manager 11.1.2.4.006 and validating in the Script Editor, the calc editor reports:

The business rules can be successfully deployed, but the error message is concerning to users.
Problem occurs in two different server environments: Essbase server 11.1.2.4.010 and Essbase 11.1.2.4.014.
