Essbase: Unable To Assign A Negative Value To A Temporary Variable (Doc ID 2287717.1)

Symptoms

In an Essbase Calculation Script, you cannot assign negative values to temporary variables.  For example, using the following in a calc script:

An error is generated indicating that it cannot validate the script:

Error: 1012001 Invalid Calc Script syntax [VAR
var1 = 0.50,
var2 = -]
