On OBIEE 12c:

Total values may not appear in a pivot table or a table view when 'First' aggregation rule is set for measure.

This symptoms may be observed when all of the following conditions are true:

• Using Pivot Table or Table view.
• 'First' Aggregation rule is set for measure.
• Null value cells are present prior to non-null (actual first) value

The 'First' Aggregation rule can be set in a view of an analysis using the More Options menu in the Layout pane:
