Symptoms

several report functionalities/ display formats have been built using custom text format option under column properties using OBIEE 11g and after the migration to OBIEE 12C the display formats are not working as expected despite of being able to use the custom text format option.

It should display either " Y " or " N" for the 3rd column organization but it display what has been entered in the Custom Text Format option under column properties

It display Y;N instead of Y or N

Screenshot of the issue:

Steps to reproduce using Sample Sales Lite:

  1. Create an analysis using:Office->Department, Oraganization and Organization
  2. Edit Column Properties for Third Column Organization and in Data Format->check the check box for 'Override Default Data Format'->Treat Text As:'Custom Text Format'
  3. under Custom Text Format enter the Value Y;N
  4. Save the Analysis
  5. Run the Results
  6. In Results you will See Y;N instead of Y or N

This worked well in OBIEE 11g.
