An Administrator User Cannot Modify Owned Items That Were Created By Another User In Oracle Analytics (Doc ID 2957146.1)

Last updated on JUNE 29, 2023

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A user (for example, "AuthorUser") created objects (analyses, agents etc.) in Oracle BI / Analytics, and saved them to their My Folders location.

The user is no longer with the organization, and an Administrator level user (for example, "AdminUser") is trying to edit / maintain the objects (for example, update the schedules of agents etc.).

The AdminUser took ownership of the objects as below:

  1. Log into /analytics
  2. Click on the Catalog link
  3. Toggle to the Admin View
  4. In the Folders pane, click on the Catalog Root > User Folders > AuthorUser folder
  5. In the Tasks pane, click on the Properties link
  6. In the Properties window, click on the "Set Ownership of this item and all subitems" link and click the OK button

However, the AdminUser cannot manipulate any objects that they now own. For example, on an analysis in the AuthorUser folder:

  1. Click the Edit link >> See it is unresponsive / nothing happens
  2. Click the More drop down list >> See the Copy option is disable / greyed out
  3. Try to drag and drop the item into a Shared Folder sub-folder >> See the following Error is returned: /users/AuthorUser/<analysis name> access denied for user to patch /shared/<sub-folder>
