Purpose

This bulletin is a supplement to existing documentation and its purpose is to explain the use of the Interoperability (Z file processing) for Work Order Completions for Inbound and Outbound transactions. It explains basic setup and required fields to complete the transaction.
It also includes detailed instruction on how to perform full or partial Work Order Completions using the Inventory Completion Inbound Processor (R31114Z1I).

On the inbound side, this transaction is used to update EnterpriseOne tables with work order completion information.
On the outbound side, this transaction is used to generate records that can be used by a third party to update their system with the work order completion information.

Overview

Work Order Completion transactions are used to record the completion of item production to the inventory in the system.

On the inbound side, this transaction is used to update EnterpriseOne tables with work order completion information.

On the outbound side, this transaction is used to generate records that can be used by a third party to update their system with the work order completion information.

The permanent E1 tables primarily affected by this transaction are the Work Order Master File (F4801), the Item Ledger File (F4111), and the Item Location File (F41021).

The Inbound Completions Processor (R31114Z1I) can only be used to Update an existing Work Order Header record, not Add. Attempts to add or convert from F4801Z to F4801 will fail and result in Error: Work Order Number Invalid Cause: The Work Oder Number entered odes not exist in the Work Order Master file (F4801).

There is no Inbound functionality to create Work Order Headers (F4801). As stated in E1: 31: Importing Work Orders into JDE and Updating WO Status, Parts Lists & Routings Document 629428.1 under Overview,

[... The P4801Z1 application cannot be used for uploading inbound work order (WO) headers from an external system, as there are no interoperability tables to pull in work order header details. Inbound interoperability is not supported for any of the work order records stored in F4801 since the Work Order Document Number (DOCO.F4801) is the primary key to the file and there is not a way to synchronize the incoming numbers with JDE Next Numbers. Workaround

Users may consider using inbound F3460 MRP Order Messages, and processing those to generate work orders.
