Purpose
Overview
Standard Pack Recommendation functionality (introduced in the EnterpriseOne 8.10 release) allows the ability to build shipping carton, create carton charges, generate and reorganize carton details, automatically create shipping labels (UCC-128, Next Number or EPC numbers) and provide customers with shipment tracking information. The Standard Pack Carton Recommendations (P4615) application can be used to automatically generate a carton recommendation for Items in a shipment. Packaging is based on the rules for standard pack. Recommendations and no automatic changes can occur to carton recommendations after a carton recommendation has been manually changed. The system will not recommend mixed cartons. Only parts with the same item number will be put in an innermost carton; however this can later be changed through Carton Reorganization (P4620). If the system does not find standard pack information for an item, the system adds the item as a loose piece on the shipment.
Carton Recommendation Process
Carton recommendations impact the Transportation Management, Sales Order Management, and Demand Scheduling systems. The system creates carton recommendations during the shipment creation process and updates recommendations automatically when a shipment changes. The Warehouse Management system does not recognize the carton recommendations created for standard packs, and standard packs can be processed with the Warehouse Management system being either on or off.
Scope
The purpose of this document is to test and document the Standard Pack Carton Recommendations process. Standard Pack Carton Recommendations (P4615) is used to recommend cartons at the time the shipment is created. A carton recommendation summarizes the number and weight of pallets or cartons, and can make carton and pallet recommendations within shipments. This application can also be used to run the Pick Pack and Ship Process (P4620).
