E1: SEC: Application Query Security To Prevent "Open Find" Queries In EnterpriseOne Applications And Data Browser. (Doc ID 1232653.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 26, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 8.98 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

This document describes the Application Query Security functionality to prevent "open find" queries in EnterpriseOne applications and Data Browser.

The functionality is available only on Web client starting with Tools Release 8.98.2.0 in Application Release 8.11SP1 and above
Following ESUs are required based on Application Release level :

Overview

Application Query Security prevents users from running "open find" queries when no search criteria has been entered in at least one of the form filter or QBE fields.
When users attempt to perform such queries, a pop-up error or warning generic message is displayed alerting the users that the query search has been cancelled.
The error or warning generic message can be customized specific to the form within the application.

Application Query security is designed to execute upon clicking Find.
When applications have 'Automatically Find On Entry' selected in Grid Properties|Options, Application Query security is not applied on auto-find invoked upon entry into the form.
Per Bug 32453927 OPEN FIND SECURITY NOT RESPECTED FOR AUTO FIND ON ENTRY FORMS it is functioning as designed.

Application Query security is set up at the form level by application. Applications include DataBrowser and any Find "enabled" application type (Find/Browse, Headerless Detail, Header/Detail). The security set up can be enabled or disabled for a specific form.

By default, Application Query security applies to ALL users (*PUBLIC). For users with a business need to run "open find" queries, there is an option to exclude these users by application from Application Query security.

Following are the topics discussed in document:

Scope

This document is intended for the EnterpriseOne system administrator to set up Application Query Security for selected EnterpriseOne applications and Data Browser in order to prevent users from initiating a query for data without specifying a search criteria.
