Purpose
This document is primarily concerned with debugging kernel issues for Tools Releases prior to 8.98.3.0. Tools Release 8.98.3.0 introduces several new utilities to aid in troubleshooting kernel issues. While the information in this document will still be correct when applied to releases beyond 8.98.3.0, it provides only minimal coverage of the improved troubleshooting utilities and methodologies that are available in newer Tools Releases.
Customers using Tools Release 8.98.4.0 or newer should also read KRM (Kernel Resource Management) documentation for information on additional troubleshooting techniques that are available for newer Tools Releases as a supplement to the techniques described in the attached document.
As of TR 8.98.4 parameters HandleKrnlSignals and krnlCoreDump (described on page 29 of attached document) become obsolete with the introduction of KRM. Review the following solution for KRM:
