E1: 13: Alert Meter Reading User That Prior Fiscal Year Balances Not Moved To New Year (Doc ID 2016746.1)

When entering meter readings in a new fiscal year, if the Fixed Assets Account Balances Close (R12825) has not been run for the previous year, the user will not view the true current readings. Thus when the Asset Ledger (F1202) has not yet been updated with the prior fiscal year's units, if a user enters meter readings it could cause “doubling” or other data integrity errors that are difficult to correct.

Resolution:

Provide a validation check upon meter entry or processing with the above programs such that the F1202 contains a record for the Fiscal Year required to support the given G/L date of the Meter reading being processed.  Validation check of the F1202 should consider the following:

•    Asset ID
•    Account Number
•    Fiscal Year

If a record is not found, provide an error Message indicating that “The Meter Accounts for the Fiscal Year being processed have not been setup.  Please run the Fixed Assets Account Balances Close (R12825) to generate required balances for the Fiscal Year being processed.”
