E1: 31: R3483 Requirements Planning (MRP) Is Planning Based on Batch Bills of Material (BOM) That Have Expired Effective Thru Dates (Doc ID 2687593.1)

Last updated on APRIL 02, 2024

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Requirements Planning - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a Bill of Material (BOM) has been created for more than one Batch Qty MRP should plan Orders and components based on the BOM that matches or is the closest fit larger than the demand. If the smaller BOM Effective Thru Date is made out of effect (a past date) MRP is still giving Messages for that Quantity when messages should be based on the BOM that is currently in effect by date. The 0 Batch BOM is ignored when it should be used for any Demand that is not an exact match to a Batch Quantity BOM.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create 2 Batch BOMs type M for an item one for 10000 and another one for 20000. Both BOMs are valid and effective date ex ( 06/01/2020 to 12/31/2040)
2. Enter forecast for the item, run MPS and we get messages for either BOM size.
3. Now make the BOM of 10000 effective thru in the past. (06/01/2020 to 06/10/2020).
4. Run MPS again and you will continue having messages for the BOM batch 10000 even if it is not effective.
