Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Foreign language characters (e.g. umlaut Ä, Ü) do not display correctly when Grid Export to CSV file with File Character Encoding UTF-8 (the default encoding displayed in dropdown list in Export Assistant) is auto-opened in Excel.

The umlaut characters display correctly when the UTF-8 CSV file is opened in Notepad/Notepad++ (confirming E1 has exported the umlaut characters correctly in UTF-8 encoding).
