Symptoms

User creates an Item Master (P4101) record with Stocking Type N and then tries to create an Item Branch (P41026) record for stocking type N. The item is Rental Equipment that is not kept in inventory.

The system returns an error:

ERROR MESSAGE:
Branch / Plant and Item Inconsistant (4080)
CAUSE . . . . The Item being entered or changed has a Stocking Type and Branch / Plant that are inconsistant. Items with a stocking type of "N" (Non-stock) do not allow the entry of Branch / Plant. Items that have a stocking type that are not Non-stock require the entry of Branch / Plant.

RESOLUTION. . When the Stocking Type of the Item being processed is set to an "N", either remove the Branch/Plant entered or select a item that allows pricing at the Branch level. When the Stocking Type of the Item being processed is not a Non-Stock item, either enter a Branch/Plant or select a item that is a Non-Stock item.

The error is issued by F4101ProcessMasterData (N4101060) on line 41762 of the code.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create a new item with Stocking Type N and Line Type N.
  2. Reinquire and take the Row Exit to Item Branch.
  3. Click Add (+) to add an Item Branch Record.
  4. Populate Item Branch Revisions Screen and Click OK.
  5. The program returns Branch / Plant and Item Inconsistent (4080) Error and highlights the N stocking type.
