Symptoms

Multi Plant MRP R3483 over plans, resulting in over stock, if the supply from different OPs is suggested to defer in the same weekly bucket. An Order & Expedite message is also generated for the same quantity as in the deferred OP.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Have two items (in P4101, P41026), one manufactured parent and one purchased component. The component is also OPC = 4.
  2. Have two WOs for the parent (in P48013), with Parts List attached (in P3111) and freeze them. They are one week apart. Have two forecast records for the parent item to justify that supply, for the same quantities.
  3. Have two OPs for the component (in P4310), for the same quantities as above. One is two weeks earlier than the corresponding WO. The other is in the same week as the first WO (the same).
  4. Now, run R3483 Multi Plant MRP over both items with a planning horizon of 12 weeks.
  5. Notice there are two messages generated (in P3411) for the purchased component:
Order & Expedite (for the first quantity of the WO/OP)
    Defer (for the first OP).
Also check Time Serie P3413 and be sure that, after the defer message, the fist OP is ported in the same weekly bucket as the second OP.
    This results in over stock.
