E1: 34: Both MRP/MPS Requirements Planning - R3482 and Master Planning Schedule - Multiple Plant - R3483 Create Expedite or Defer Message when Increase or Decrease Message is Expected (Doc ID 2848254.1)

Last updated on JULY 17, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Requirements Planning - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When Demand increases, planning actions (E Expedites) multiple order messages, when a single G Increase message is expected. When Demand decreases, Defer (D) messages are given when (L) Decrease messages are expected.

This results in many more order updates than needed.

Steps:
1. Set up a P41026 manufactured Parent Item with OPC = 1.
2. Set up a manufactured Sub-assembly with OPC = 4.
3. Create a P3002 BOM for the Parent using the Sub-assembly.
4. Enter P4210 Sales order Demand for the Parent Item on multiple days.
5. Run R3482 to generate O Messages
6. Process the Messages to create the WO's
7. On one of the early dates in the series of days entered, Increase the SO Demand Quantity
8. Run R3482 again
9. Review the Messages and note that Expedite (E) messages are given for several of the later order when a single Increase (G) messages would have been expected.
10. Review the OPC=4 Sub-assembly and note that it gets E messages when G would be expected also.

---Run R3483 and note that the Parent item correctly gets a G message but the Sub-assembly gets E message---
+++Decrease the Demand on early dates and rerun R3482 and note that Defer (D) Messages are given when (C) Cancel or (L) Decrease messages should be given
for the Parent OPC=1 item. For the OPC=4 item, it will Defer the order and Cancel a later order.+++
