E1: 42: Sales Update (R42800) Creates Zero Amount Journal Entries (F0911) on the Tax Liability Account in Vertex (Doc ID 2854081.1)

Last updated on JUNE 15, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Sales Order Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After creating a Sales Order with zero price and zero cost in a Vertex environment, Sales Update (R42800) will create a journal entry for the tax liability account (DMAAI 4250) with a zero amount. This does not occur in a non-Vertex environment. When the Journal Entry MBF (P0900049) is set to allow zero amounts, only the Accounts Receivable Trade account should be created in this scenario.

Steps
1. Sign into an environment with Vertex active (P7306).
2. Create an item (P4101/P41026) that is set as taxable in the Item Branch.
3. Find or create a Customer Master record (P03013) that has a valid Geo Code in the Tax Information tab.
4. Create a Sales Order (P4210) for the item and customer in the previous steps.
5. Select the Sales Order detail line and select Zero Price and Zero Cost; save the order.
6. Inquire on the version of the Journal Entry MBF (P0900049) used by Sales Update; set the Zero Amounts option to blank (Allow zero amounts).
7. Run Sales Update (R42800) over the order.
8. Inquire on the report and notice there is a journal entry with a zero amount on the tax liability account.
9. In databrowser, inquire on batch in the Account Ledger (F0911); notice that the system created a zero amount line against the tax liability account.
10. Test the same steps in a non-Vertex environment and notice that the system does not create a journal entry for the tax liability account with a zero amount and zero unit.
