E1: 74F: French Derogatory Depreciation Entries Creates Incorrect Entries If The Selected Assets Don’t Have Data For All Ledgers / Fiscal Years (R7412855A) (Doc ID 2951218.1)

Symptoms

When creating Journal Entries with French Derogatory Depreciation Entries (R7412855A), if an Asset does not have entries in the Declining Balance Ledger for that Fiscal Year, the UBE will create corrupted entries.

Instead of using the depreciation amounts for the same Asset from the Straight Line and Declining Balance Ledgers, the UBE will use the Straight Line depreciation amount from the previous Asset, resulting in incorrect calculations.

Steps

  1. In Depreciation Default Coding (P12002), enter two Ledgers (AA and D1) for a Company / Cost Object
  2. In Company Setup (P0010), make sure the Company is in Fiscal Year 22
  3. From Work With Assets (P1204), enter 2 Assets
  4. Using databrowser, verify each Asset has two records in Asset Account Balances (F1202), one for each of the Ledger Types defined at Step 1
  5. From Depreciation Default Coding (P12002), edit the setup created at Step 1 and remove Ledger D1
  6. From Journal Entries (P0911), enter a Journal Entry for the Cost Account from Step 1, in Fiscal Year 23, entering the Asset Number of the first Asset
  7. Post the above batch
  8. Run Post G/L Entries to Assets (R51800) for the above batch in Fixed Assets
  9. From Depreciation Default Coding (P12002), edit the setup created at Step 1 and add again Ledger D1 (the setup is now as the original setup from Step 1)
  10. From Journal Entries (P0911), enter a Journal Entry for the Cost Account from Step 1, in Fiscal Year 23, entering the Asset Number of the second Asset (enter a different amount for the second Asset to make calculations easier)
  11. Post the above batch
  12. Run Post G/L Entries to Assets (R51800) for the above batch in Fixed Assets
  13. Run User Defined Depreciation (R12855) for both Assets for a number of Periods: Period 5 and Period 6 of Fiscal Year 23
  14. Run French Derogatory Depreciation Entries (R7412855A) for both Assets for Period 6 of Fiscal Year 23, in Preliminary Mode
  15. Verify the calculation is incorrect. The Straight Line amount for Asset 9320 is taken from Asset 9319 (which is not printed)
  16. Run French Derogatory Depreciation Entries (R7412855A) for both Assets for Period 6 of Fiscal Year 23, in Preliminary Mode with the same Processing Options but adding the Fiscal Year also in the Data Selection
  17. Verify the calculation is correct
