E1: 31B: Operation - VBT Move Details (P31B66) Suggests Incorrect Number of Barrels To Be Used on the VBT Details for T2B Operation when the Barrel Type has Different 'Total Container' and 'Fermenting' Capacity (Doc ID 2960295.1)

Symptoms

When having a barrel type defined with different Total Container Capacity and Fermenting Capacity and attaching VBT details during T2B operation, the system suggests an incorrect number of barrels and disregards the material type (either fermenting or non-fermenting) used on the blend operation.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. P31B032 - Define a new barrel type for e.g. Container Total Capacity = 216 GA and Ferment Capacity = 172.8 GA.
  2. P31B031 - Define a new Barrel Profile for the above barrel type.
  3. P31B03 - Use the above Barrel Profile to create at least 17 barrels of 216 / 172.8 GA each.
  4. P31B94 – Create a RECV operation for a BOL having the Receipt Quantity = 2863.2 GA and ‘Fermenting’ Material Type (that should use the barrel Ferment Capacity).
  5. P31B94 – Create a R2TV operation to receive the previous BOL into a tank. Planned Move Quantity = 2863.2 GA.
  6. P31B94 > P31B87 > P31B66 - Create a T2B operation to receive the quantity from the previous tank into a new VBT. Planned Move Quantity = 2863.2 GA. System suggests attaching 14 barrels instead of 17 barrels.
  7. P31B66 – Once the barrels are added to the VBT, the system calculates Planned After Volume = 2863.2 and Actual After Volume = 2419.2 GA.
The number of barrels is calculated incorrectly, based on the Container Total Capacity = 216 GA (= 2863.2 / 216 = 13.26 > increased to 14) rather than Ferment Capacity = 172.8 GA (= 2863.2 / 172.8 = 16.57 > increased to 17), although the material type on this operation is ‘fermenting’.
From this point forward, the system goes back and forth and calculates the quantities correctly, based on the material type but using an initial incorrect number of barrels. Once the 14 barrels are added to the VBT, the system calculates Planned After Volume = 2863.2 and Actual After Volume = 2419.2 (= 14 barrels x 172.8). The difference between 2863.2 – 2419.2 = 444 GA is lost and the system does not account for this volume on the subsequent operations.
