Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Position Control, P081011, Positions are set up with a budgeted salary, headcount and FTE (full time equivalent).  HR Constants, P08040, allow you to set the Position Control flag to a Warning or Hard error.  With the constants set to a hard error, a position is attached to an employee in Employee Entry, P0801, and the salary entered for the employee exceeds the budgeted salary for the position. The program accepts the 'over budget' salary without error.

Steps:

  1. Access HR Constants, P08040, and set Position Budget Edits to 'Hard' error for budget, FTE and headcount.
  2. In P081011, add a new position, populating the salary, headcount and FTE.
  3. Attach the new position to an employee in Employee Entry, P0801, entering a salary that exceeds the budget for the position.
  4. Use the check mark to confirm the change and there is no error on the salary field.
