Symptoms
The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) tax is not applying the standard exemption amount causing an incorrect tax amount.
The annual exemption for an employee is $3500 divided by the number of pay periods. For example for semi-monthly pay period the calculation is 3500/24=145.83 (standard exemption amount).
Prior to calculating the CPP tax, the gross amount is reduced by the standard exemption amount for the pay period.
