E1: 54R: Allow Rental Billing Workfile Generation (R54R300) to Use the Related Sales Order Generation Date as the Exchange Rate Date Basis (Doc ID 2993055.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 14, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Rental Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a Rental Contract (P54R10) is set up where the Billing Currency is different from the Base Currency, Rental Billing Workfile Generation (R54R300) will be able to use five different date options when fetching from the Currency Exchange Rates table (F0015):

If the Fixed Exchange Rate field is selected in the Rental Contract Header (P54R10), use the header Transaction Exchange Rate. If not, use the following options:

Blank = Use system date
1 = Use F54R11 bill from date
2 = Use F54R11 bill through date
3 = Use the G/L date

Currently it is not possible to instruct the R54R300 to use the Exchange Rate based on when the Rental Contract Detail record was created and the related Sales Order was generated (R54R100, P4210). For example, if the Contract Header was created on 01-JAN, but the detail record and related order were created on 15-MAY, there is no setting to instruct the R54R300 to use the 'Related Order Generation Date' (15-MAY). Note that if the Rental Contract Detail record has Billing Method = 3 (One-off Sales Order Billing), the related Sales Order will have the Exchange Rate at the time Related Order Generation (R54R100) created the Sales Order (P4210). Therefore Sales Update (R42800) would use the desired (Order Created) date.

Steps:
1. Create a Rental Contract (P54R10) header where the Billing Currency is different than the Base Currency. Do not use the Fixed Exchange Rate field.
2. Add a detail record but do not generate related orders.
3. On a later date, generate the related orders (including the Sales Order) where the Billing Method = 1.
4. Run Rental Billing Workfile Generation (R54R300) in proof mode. Notice that there are no settings to instruct the system to use the Related Sales Order Creating Date as the Exchange Rate Date Basis.

The request is to add a new Exchange Rate Date Basis option to Rental Billing Workfile Generation (R54R300) to use the Related Order Generation Date (i.e., when the R54R100 created the Sales Order).
