E1: 46: WMS (Warehousing) Random PUTAWAY Suggestion (via R46171) Skipping 1st P46095 Instruction Sequence and Using 2nd Sequence Resulting in Putawy to Unexpected / Unintended Location
(Doc ID 3000076.1)

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Warehouse Management - Version 9.2 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
For Random Putaway where the instructions have more than 1 sequence and where the 2 sequences use different Random Rules, the first instruction line/sequence is being skipped and the putaway is using the second line/ sequence as verified by the putaway location that is associate to the Random Rule on the second sequence. Expecting putaway to be to locations associated to the 1st instruction sequence/Random Rule.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Complete set up required for WMS processing including the specific details shown below.
2. Create a PO for BX unit of measure and receive a quantity to create a putaway request.
3. Run R46171 to create the suggestion and it uses an unexpected location.
Additional required factors to receive these results:
- P46010 - Item Profile: ‘Split Lines’ setting is unchecked/N
- P46095 - Putaway Instructions: Seq 1.00 is UM = BX / Random/ Rule D5/ Put Zone 1H/ Tie Breaker = 4 (Seq locations by least available space, but minimize the number of locations used.)
P46095 - Putaway Instructions: Seq 2.00 is UM = BX / Random/ Rule D1/ Put Zone 1H/ Tie Breaker = 3 (Sequence locations by least available space) - UDC 46/SR - Random Rule Tables: D5 Rule defined for Characteristic Group = P, which has char = Pickable
UDC 46/SR - Random Rule Tables: D1 Rule defined for Characteristic Group = O, which has char = Overflow - P46020 - Location Profiles: Locations 3.B.1 & 3.B.2 set with Dimension Group 162424 & Characteristics Group = P (pickable) and Locations 3.B.3 & 3.B.4 have Dimension Group 161624 & Characteristics Group = O (overflow)
- P46022 - Location Dimensions for these 2 Dimension Groups defined as follows:
162424 = 16x24x24 = 5.33 usable cubes (larger locations related to first instruction sequence)
161624 = 16x24x16 = 3.56 usable cubes (smaller locations related to second instruction sequence) - P46024 Capacity Definition by Item for the BX unit of measure:
162424 = 16 BX maximum
161624 = 8 BX maximum - P46025 Maximum Quantity by Zone for Zone 1H which is on both instruction sequences = 32 BX
- Testing performed where all related locations have zero on hand of any item, thus P46022 Location Utilization shows Utilized Percentage = 0
With these settings, Putaway suggestion pdf R46171 will first show code '3230 – Cannot split request' for the blank ( . . ) location. Next it shows '3213 - Used - Random Location' and suggests a location (3.B.3) associated to the 2nd instruction line/Random Rule when you are expecting it to select one of the locations (3.B.1) associate to the first instruction sequence/Random Rule.
