Last updated on FEBRUARY 29, 2024

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

EDI Product Activity Data Edit/Create (R47121) is used to create an Inventory Transfer transaction on a Standard (07) Cost Item, and the Unit Cost populated in the EDI Product Activity Detail (F47122.UNCS) is different than the Standard Cost.

The resulting Item Ledger (F4111) and Account Ledger (F0911) entries in the From Branch are created with (07) Standard Cost in the Item Cost Ledger (P4105) and not Overridden cost from EDI Detail table.

Note: When the Interactive Inventory Transfer (P4113) program is used, the Item Ledger (F4111) and Account Ledger (F0911) entries are created with the overridden cost the dollar variance appears in a variance account in the Account Ledger (F0911).

Steps to Reproduce

NOTE: All Data Referenced is Oracle Demo Data. No Customer Personal Data is Displayed.
  1. Setup a new Item with Standard Cost Method (07) set as Inventory Cost at 12.66 in the Item Cost Ledger (P4105).
    1. From Branch is 30
    2. To Branch is 10
  2. Item Availability (P41202) shows 1,000 TN in From Branch 30 and 0 TN in To Branch 10.
  3. Use Inbound EDI Product Activity Data Revisions (P47120) to enter an Inventory Transfer as follows:
    1. Detail Record (F47122) has From Branch 30 and To Branch 10.
    2. Unit Cost is 13.0000 which is different than Standard Cost of 12.6600
    3. Product Activity Code (PA CD) = IT (Inventory Transfer)
    4. Header Record (F47121) has Minimum Required Fields populated.
  4. Set Processing Options for EDI Product Activity Data Edit/Create (R47121) as follows:
    1. Update Mode Tab Option #1 = 1 (FINAL Mode)
    2. Document Type Tab Option #4 = IT (Document Type for Inventory Transfers
    3. Processing Tab Option #5 = 1 (Override Cost)
  5. Run EDI Product Activity Data Edit/Create (R47121) in Final Mode. PDF shows transaction was processed with no errors.
    1. Check the Item Ledger (P4111). The transaction was entered at Standard Cost instead of the Override Cost as was expected.
    2. Check Journal Entries (F0911). A Standard Cost variance was not recorded.
  6. Now create a Manual Inventory Transfer (P4113) from Branch 30 to Branch 10. Manually override the cost to 13.00.
    1. Check the Item Ledger (P4111) and notice the P4113 Transfer used the override cost (13.00) and created a Standard Cost Variance, while the EDI (R47121) Transfer used the standard cost (12.66) and did not record a standard cost variance.
    2. Check Journal Entries (F0911). A Standard Cost variance WAS recorded.

EDI Inventory Transfer (R47121) Does Not Use Override Cost and Does Not Record Standard Cost Variance

Item Ledger (P4111) Entries from R47121

Journal Entries from R47121

Interactive Inventory Transfer (P4113) DOES Use Override Cost and Does Not Record Standard Cost Variance

Item Ledger (P4111) Entries from P4113

Journal Entries from P4113
