Symptoms

CafeOne layouts are not displaying the child form content but instead getting error "<Load Balancer URL address> refused to connect."

This issue occurs on both load balancer URL for JAS instances as well as direct JAS instances URL. By eliminating the load balancer, the following diagram shows the same issue occurring on the two JAS instances.

This issue occurs randomly. Sometimes after restarting the web server(s) one of the following scenarios may occur:

  1. Both JAS instances might display the error
  2. Or, less frequently, one or the other JAS instance displays the error

Sometimes, by repeatedly re-starting the JAS instances, this issue might be self-fixed.  However, this problem will re-occur again after some time.

The following shows the difference in the URL constructed to load the CafeOne layout page in the e1root.log for one where issue occur and one where issue does not occur:

e1root.log where issue occur:

Notice that the URL is malformed on the one where issue occurs compares to the one where issue does not occur:

Steps to duplicate:

  1. Sign on to EnterpriseOne
  2. Run application with CafeOne layout
  3. Received the above "... refused to connect." error on the Satellite/Child form.
