E1: 34: Add Setting to Allow MRP/MPS Requirements Planning - R3482 or Master Planning Schedule - Multiple Plant - R3483 to Cancel Newer Purchase Orders Rather than Older Ones when There is an Oversupply (Doc ID 3017340.1)

Last updated on APRIL 18, 2024

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Requirements Planning - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When multiple firm Purchase Orders exit for an item, MRP may suggest canceling older orders rather than creating defer/expedite messages for them and canceling newer Purchase Orders.

Steps to describe the issue:

  1. Enter two Purchase Orders (P4310) on different future dates for the same purchased item.
  2. Create forecast demand for the item (P3460) that include Request Dates used in the Purchase Orders entered previously. Enter demand for Request Dates that are earlier than the firm Purchase Orders.
  3. Run MRP (R3483) over the item.
  4. Review Detail Messages (P3411). MRP correctly has expedite messages to fulfill the demand with earlier Expedite Dates and O messages to fulfill demand on the later dates. This is the expected result.
  5. Process some of the order messages
  6. Delete forecast demand (P3460) so that the orders will create an oversupply.
  7. Run MRP (R3483).
  8. Review Detail Messages (P3411). Notice that there is a cancel message for one of the older Purchase Orders, and expedite messages on the newer Purchase Orders.

The request is to add a setting where MRP would prioritize older Purchase Orders and avoid a condition where it creates cancel messages on these older orders rather than on the newer ones.
