The Vertex Calculation Module is designed to tax all customers, all products, and all jurisdictions at the standard rates by default. The Tax Decision Maker (TDM) enables the taxes to be tailored for special product, customer, and jurisdiction requirements. The customers, products and jurisdictions that are setup in the TDM are exceptions to the default taxability rule.
Set up for the TDM is supported by Vertex and outlined in documentation provided by Vertex. Additional set up specific to using the TDM with EnterpriseOne software is required. The set up information is included in this document.
Seven TDM tables can be set up in Vertex:
Collect Tax In... (Master) Table - by state
Jurisdiction Exceptions (GeoCode) Table - by jurisdiction
Product Table - by state, by product category
Customer Table - by state, by customer or customer class
Company Locations Table - for Colorado only
Exception Rate (Override) - by product, and/or customer, and/or jurisdiction
Exemption Certificate - by customer - exemption certificate
Each TDM table is specific to Company Code and Division Code.
