E1: SOLEXP: How to use Menu Filtering (aka FineCut) and Roles on Solution Explorer Task Views [Video] (Doc ID 626543.1)

Last updated on MARCH 29, 2024

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version SP24 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

If a user logged into E1 and had access to all tasks (applications, reports, folders, etc.), it would be rather daunting to try and locate only the specific tasks they need for their everyday job. Therefore, to ensure users only see the tasks and task views associated with their role or business process, Solution Explorer makes use of Menu Filtering (aka FineCut in Xe/8.0). Menu filtering provides the ability to selectively enable or disable (hide / show) a task based on the assigned role, thus providing each user with a singular view of their assigned tasks. Menu filtering provides the ability to modify a task view for a role.

This document covers how to configure the Solution Explorer interface using Roles and Menu Filtering so that users will only see their specific tasks when logging into the system. It describes the steps to modify a task view for a role.

These steps have changed with different releases of the EnterpriseOne software. Depending on your release level, some steps and screens may differ.

Scope

This document is designed for administrators or business analysts who are assigned the task of configuring EnterpriseOne (E1) Menu Filtering (aka FineCut).
