E1: ESU: Clarification on Spec Merge Selection Flags (Doc ID 630506.1)

Goal

Customer is going to apply a Baseline ESU patch to their system and discovered that it (the incoming ESU objects) would wipe out the customer modifications, because the merge code for their modified objects in Spec Merge Selections was set to '1' (Replace) instead of blank (Merge). They have 3 questions:

1) How did this get set to a '1'; I'd like to keep my ER changes.
2) How can I change the value so that the merge code becomes a blank instead of a '1'?
3) What bearing does the merge code in the path code master have on the merge code in Spec Merge Selections?
