Purpose

Overview

The Global Item Update process using the P4101 Item Master Global Item Update Feature or the P4101 Item Master/ R41803 Global Item Update combination.

This process uses a special business function B4002430 ("Change Second and Third Item Numbers") that will look through each table listed in UDC 40/IC (Inventory/Item Change Files) and find the ITM (Short Item Number) column within that table. When ITM (Short Item Number) is found, the position in the table is noted. Then a SELECT statement is executed to locate all the records in the table where Short Item Number matches the one that was changed. It will then update the 2nd (LITM) and /or 3rd (AITM) item numbers in that table depending if those columns exist. For example, if there are 50 tables listed in UDC 40/IC then the process will need to fetch all records that match ITM for the changed 2nd and/or 3rd item number in all 50 tables and update those records.
