Purpose

The following document contains detailed information on commonly asked questions and will provide answers to questions on how MRP uses dates, lead times and how you can set up dates to fit your business needs.

Overview

MRP plans for parent and component supply using lead times (fixed or variable), transfer lead times (P3403T), and is influenced by lead or lag times (P3002) or defined freeze fences (P41026).

Users must be aware that MRP and the Supply and Demand (S&D) Inquiry (P4021) are different.  MRP provides static data tied to the last MRP generation date, and displays both adjusted (quantity if MRP messages are processed) and unadjusted values (no MRP messages processed).  S&D Inquiry will only display unadjusted values, so S&D users must also view the MRP Message Details (P3411) to view what MRP is recommending for new dates or quantities.
