Symptoms

We continue to experience an issue with commitments when processing work orders in A73.10. The commitment is not being relieved when the Work Order Status (SRST) changes to Status 95. This seems to occur when the quantity issued for a component on the Work Order Parts List (P3111) is under issued. In order to relieve the commitments, the Work Order Repost (P3190) is run which clears and corrects some but not all commitments for a work order.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create a work order header (P48013)
  2. Attach routing and parts list either interactively or by batch (P31410)
  3. Under issue a component on the parts list. ex: Qty Order is 10 but only 8 are issued (P31113) or, over issue the Qty Ordered ex: Qty Ordered is 10 and 15 are issued (P31113).
  4. Perform Completions (P31114) so that the work order status is moved to 95 - Completed.
  5. Go to Summary Availability (P41202) and inquire on the component that was under issued and notice that the commitment still remains in field Quantity Soft Committed (PCOM).

Business Impact

Due to this issue, commitments are not being relieved and inventory displays as being committed when the inventory has been issued and relieved. This gives the appearance of a false commitment.
