Symptoms

The following documentation has been referenced to create another user account with super-user privileges in Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 11.1.1.x.

Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide for Oracle Internet Directory
https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/11119/oid/administer/toc.htm#BEGIN
Chapter 12 Managing Accounts and Passwords
Section 12.6 Creating Another Account With Superuser Privileges
Attempts to connect to OID using Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) fail for the new super-user. The error displayed is:

Error: connected directory is not Oracle Internet Directory. Hence this connection is closed.
Connection using ODSM is successful as cn=orcladmin super-user.

 Steps to reproduce:

1. Access ODSM
2. Choose Connect to a Directory option and select the preconfigured OID connection
3. In the Connect window, enter user name in DN format e.g.
       cn=username,cn=users,dc=<COMPANY NAME>,dc=com
    Also enter the valid password.
4. Click Connect: the error will occur.
