Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11gR1 (11.1.1.1.0) or 11gR1PS1 (11.1.1.2.0).

Using Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) to change / reconfigure /switch an existing OVD LDAP adapter from using non-SSL to SSL to connect to the backend Active Directory (AD) server.

In editing the AD Adapter in ODSM and changing the port number from 389 to 636, then checking the Use SSL/TLS checkbox, and clicking the Verify (pencil) button, it shows a dialog box to ok the certificate and it seems to validate ok.  But when clicking Apply to save the adapter, the following error is returned:

Element 'ssl' not expected.
