Using "Check Out And Open" on an Excel File Opens Two Excel Windows on Machines with MS Office 2007 (Doc ID 1077324.1)

Symptoms

When using "Checkout and Open" (COAO) to open an Excel document located in Content Server, two Excel 2007 windows are opened:

First, a "blank" Excel 2007 window is opened, and hangs for a few seconds.
Next, a second window with the actual document is opened.

Opening the Excel document from Microsoft WebFolders or the Desktop Integration Suite opens the document significantly faster in just one Excel window.
