Purpose

Problem Description

At the core of every Tuxedo administrators capabilities should be the ability to performance tune a Tuxedo system. While some performance benefits can be gained through OS tuning and hardware upgrades, by far the most benefits can typically be achieved through the tuning of the Tuxedo environment and often tuning of the database environment for Tuxedo.

This article deals only with the tuning of the Tuxedo environment and assumes that DBAs will be responsible for the tuning of the database.

Tuxedo performance tuning is a combination of application knowledge, proper use of available Tuxedo features, standard approaches and mathematical analysis. This article provides simple approaches to getting the most out of your Tuxedo system by tuning the environment appropriately.

It is important to remember when performance tuning a Tuxedo system, that less is often more. That is, less Tuxedo servers can often provide better response time with less system overhead than having lots of Tuxedo servers that are not correctly utilized
