How To Use OIDCMPREC Tool to Clone and/or Verify OID Nodes (Doc ID 1087224.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 30, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 10.1.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When it is desirable to move Oracle Internet Directory (OID) data from one node to another, such as, Production to Dev, or QA/Test, the command line tools ldifwrite and bulkload are normally used. In the case of different versions this is the recommended approach.

However, if nodes are all the same release you can use the Oracle Internet Directory Compare and Reconcile Tool (oidcmpred) tool to accomplish this in one single step.  The tool was primarily developed to check/validate/synchronize OID Replicated environments and as such, uses the cn=replication dn to bind to the directories in order to perform the task.  Unfortunately, unless you have replication setup, this bind will fail.

This bulletin describes how to setup this special bindDN as well as the usage of the oidcmprec tool, for OID 10.1.4 and higher.
