Symptoms


When attempting to access Discussions from within WebCenter Spaces, the following error occurs:

Failure to authenticate the user weblogic, due to: Unable to connect to discussion server


Steps To Reproduce

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Configure Webcenter with Discussion Services as indicated here:

    Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide for Oracle WebCenter
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
    12 Managing the Announcements and Discussions Services

  2. Restart WCS_Spaces and WCS_Services managed servers.
  3. Access WebCenter Spaces and login.
  4. Click on Discussiohs icon in left toolbar.  The error will occur.


The WLS_Services-diagnostic.log shows the following error:
