Purpose

This article explains how to use the Windows command line tool "telnet" to troubleshoot if the machine has the ability to communicate with a mail server using either the POP3 or IMAP protocols.  These techniques are to be used if there are problems getting the account specified in the Email Provider batch job to authenticate to the mail server with either the POP3 or IMAP protocols.
