Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 10g.

Unable to set or reset the orcladmin super user password to the same as the OID Database (DB) user (ODS) password with oidpasswd utility:

> oidpasswd connect=<servicename> reset_su_password=true
OID DB user password: mypassword1
    new password: mypassword1
    confirm password: mypassword1
new password must be different from the current.
passwords do not match.

Also, if setting the password to be something different than ODS DB password, to work around the problem above, the new password does not work / take effect until the OID server is restarted.
