Error During Registration of Second OVD Instance with Domain in a FMW 11g Cluster (Doc ID 1167583.1)

Symptoms

A High Availability (HA) setup of Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) is being upgraded from Application Server 10g to Fusion Middleware (FMW) 11g following

The second instance of OVD 11.1.12.0 is installed successfully. However, when an attempt is made to associate this OVD instance with the existing domain, the following error message is generated:

ORACLE_INSTANCE/opmnctl registerinstance

-adminPort adminServerPort
-adminUsername DOMAIN_ADMINISTRATOR_USERNAME
-oracleInstance ORACLE_INSTANCE

<instance name> exists on this domain. Please unregister it first!"
