Searchfilter In OID to OID DIP Synchronization Profile Fails with NullPointerException (Doc ID 1191665.1)

Last updated on JULY 01, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.4.3 [Release 10gR2 to 10gR3]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Synchronization has been set up between two OID servers using Note 329353.1 'How to Synchronize Between Two OID (Oracle Internet Directory) Servers'

This works fine until a search filter is added. For example, (cn=testuser):

dipassistant modifyprofile -D cn=orcladmin -w mypasswd -profile OID1_TO_OID2 odip.profile.condirfilter="searchfilter=(cn=testuser)"

The synchronization then fails with the following error in the trace log for the profile:

CHGLOGFILTER : (&(objectclass=changelogentry)(changenumber>=2586841)(changenumber<=2587296)(cn=testuser))
OID1_TO_OID2:Error in Mapping Enginejava.lang.NullPointerException
java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.ldap.odip.gsi.LDAPReader.searchChanges(LDAPReader.java:308)
at oracle.ldap.odip.engine.AgentThread.mapExecute(AgentThread.java:528)
at oracle.ldap.odip.engine.AgentThread.execMapping(AgentThread.java:306)
at oracle.ldap.odip.engine.AgentThread.run(AgentThread.java:186)

If the searchfilter is changed to use modifiersname, the sync is working fine, the nullpointer error doesn't occur.
eg.    searchfilter=(modifiersname=cn=orcladmin)
