Symptoms

When trying to configure OC4J with admin.jar the following error message is returned :-

Error: Could not connect to the remote server. Please check if the server is down or the client is using invalid host, ORMI port or password to connect: Connection refused: connect


Example command

java -jar $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\home\admin.jar ormi://localhost:23793 oc4jadmin welcome1 -application ApplicationName -installDataSource -jar D:/oracle/soa/jdbc/lib/ojdbc14dms.jar -url jdbc:oracle:thin:@//localhost:1521/orcl -location jdbc/DSName -username username -password password -className oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource


The RMI port matches the information in $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\home\config\rmi.xml
