Why Is Metadata Field on the Checkin Page Displayed Correctly As a Text Field, But Displayed As a Date Field on the Search Page? (Doc ID 1199191.1)

Symptoms

A custom metadata field is configured as an option list, and is also dependent on another field.  On the Checkin page, the field is displayed correctly as a choice list; however, on the Search page, it is displayed as a date field with "From" and "To" labels.  This is not the expected behavior.
